Walter Volpati
Producer/Director
A native of Teaneck, New Jersey, Walter Volpati came to New Orleans to study Broadcast Production at Loyola University, and like a lot of folks who fall in love with the Crescent City, ended up making the area home. He received his Bachelor's degree in Communications in 1988, began interning for Cox Productions, and was hired full-time as a Producer/Director in January of 1989.
Over the last two decades, Walter's work has received a stream of acclaim: The Louisiana Cable and Telecommunications Association recently honored him with a public service award for his work on The National WWII Museum's High School Quiz Bowl, and he has likewise received numerous nominations for New Orleans Press Club awards, and was a national Telly Award finalist for a documentary on Tiger Woods.
As the "go-to guy" for the Cox Mobile Production Unit, Walter has been directly involved with telecasts of LSU baseball, Tulane football, basketball, and baseball, Zephyrs baseball, Southeastern football and baseball, Fairgrounds horse racing, NWF wrestling, and many other regional and national sporting events. As a free-lancer Walter has also worked for NBC Sports, Fox Sports, ESPN, USA Network, The Weather Channel, Showtime, and the New Orleans Hornets to name just a few.
At Cox, Walter is able to combine his passion for sports with his expertise in television production. He currently produces and directs popular programs like Inside Zephyrs Baseball, High School Football Game of the Week, and coach's shows for both Tulane football and basketball.
But, Walter's interest in sports extends beyond producing and directing their coverage: he is an avid tennis player, has competed in tournaments, and is a member of the U.S. Tennis Association. You can also find him on the bike trail, playing beach volleyball, and doing "anything else having to do with the beach"!
